Georgia Super Lawyers' Rising Stars 2020-2023
As a former high school and college athlete, Kris Alderman is passionate about litigation because it provides the opportunity to compete everyday in a field where success results in justice for others. After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia, Kris began his career providing litigation support at a top-tier Atlanta law firm. While working there, he obtained his law degree from Georgia State University, where he first developed an interest in ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974) law.
After law school, Kris joined a small firm in Marietta, focusing on ERISA and health care reimbursement issues. Early in his career, he tried a case against one of the largest firms in the country and was recruited to join them after the trial. Once there, Kris began representing individuals and health plans in disputes with hospitals over the reasonable value of hospital services. For 10 years, Kris was on the front lines of the battle against excessive health care costs, a problem handicapping our economy and directly affecting many Americans and Georgians. He has managed nationwide litigation against unreasonable and excessive hospital charges, litigating cases in the state, appellate, or federal courts of more than 30 states.
Kris Alderman practices law to win for his clients. Sometimes that means recovering a large settlement. Other times winning requires something else, like curtailing a corrupt or abusive practice. As a Georgia native, he is passionate about fighting for Georgia consumers and citizens. Kris joined The Summerville Firm as a partner in 2023 to focus his practice more exclusively on his home state.
